I delivered a keynote speech at the 2026 Asia-Pacific (Hainan) Seafood Industry Supply Chain Conference on Oct. 21st, featuring how seafood companies can work with NGOs to improve sustainability and traceability.
My key messages are:
1. We see clear trends in sustainability and traceability in the world’s recent seafood governance.
2. Despite the progress of fishery and seafood policies, there is still a huge gap or lag in consumers’ perception, especially in developed country markets.
3. While NGOs will further nurture the need for sustainable and traceable seafood, corporations should strengthen the ways that consumers can perceive traceability.
4. I encouraged corporations to consider FIP and AIP, where NGOs can be deeply involved.
